Practitioner: Denise Ellis Kelly

After a career that began in Psychology and social welfare, working in Child Protection and training adults with intellectual disabilities, I branched into people management, development and training in various sales roles for various large companies. Increasingly I found it difficult to align myself with the agendas and expectations of large companies, the constant push for more with the provision of little resources and support - and I also found it difficult to ask the people I was managing to do the same. I could feel that I no longer 'fit', and my feeling was that there must be a different, more nurturing and supportive way to work with people, to help them connect to their own enormous inner resources and potential. Most importantly I realised I needed to do the same if I was to enjoy and live my life in any meaningful, conscious way.

My relationships felt very unhealthy, with repetitive patterns occurring with both partners and friends. My family relationships were challenging, with powerful emotions often consuming me which I couldn't understand. I had repetitive physical issues that never seemed to heal. I often found myself asking, 'is this all there is?' A kind friend offered me a Reiki treatment one day when I had hit an all time low, and I couldn't believe the difference in how I felt. This was a turning point for me - I could actually see there was so much more. And so, in 2001 I began my journey into alternative health and complimentary therapies. Along with my training and experience in psychology, I am now a Reiki Master and an Energetic and Spiritual Healing practitioner. My practice is based in Manly NSW, and my passion is working with adults, children and animals from all walks of life to support their journey to increased health and wellbeing.

My philosophy on health and wellbeing

We live in a world of constant change, where the pace is fast, and life is about immediacy and superficial gratification. Increasingly, this way of life is resulting in people feeling unwell and unhappy, and higher levels of dis-ease. In the ancient eastern philosophies regarding health, we become ill for a reason. Based on this philosophy, illness has everything to do with how we live our life, how we think and feel, how we behave, what we eat, and how we relate to others and the world around us. Under this approach, we treat the whole person, examining the links and utilising what is presented physically as a means to understanding and mapping what is going on in a person's inner world. Nothing is viewed in isolation, and everything is connected.

My philosophy of healing is best summed up in this way:

"You can't heal anyone but yourself, and nobody can heal you. Healing is more than getting rid of symptoms in your body. It is acknowledging their origin and purpose, and lovingly releasing fear and discord from your mental, emotional and physical vibrations so that the symptoms are no longer required. Physical dis-ease is the last resort your soul has to communicate to you the dis-ease in your consciousness, which you cannot escape, only heal. If you just fix the symptoms, you ignore and crush their divine guidance….

The body is an infallible messaging system from the soul to a person's present conscious personality regarding where they are out of harmony with themselves, and all that is in flow in creation" (taken from Atoms to Angels, by Paul D Walsh-Roberts)

My role is to facilitate your process of healing, the process that is unique to you, and help you tap into the huge well of innate intelligence that you have within. To help you understand the messages that your body is giving you. To walk beside you, encouraging you as you develop the insight into what is impacting on your health and well being, and then supporting you to transform it. This is a deep and powerful way to work that can bring enormous personal growth, which will flow into every area of your life.
